Frequently asked questions

What is BookLaunchWizard?+

It's a book publishing workspace: it turns a manuscript or an idea into a publish-ready book: paperback interiors, reflowable eBooks, covers, children's storybooks and narrated audiobooks.

What can I create with BookLaunchWizard?+

Paperback books and eBooks, children's storybooks, front and full wraparound covers, and narrated audiobooks with text to speech. Anything still being finished appears as Coming Soon until it's ready.

Do I need design experience?+

No. Every studio starts you from a template or a guided setup, and the layout, sizing, and print maths are handled for you. If you do want fine control, the editors are there when you need them.

Can I try things before I subscribe?+

Yes. After you sign in, Start Creating Free gives you one book to upload your manuscript, organize and edit it, design a cover, save and preview, with no card required. AI tools, audiobook narration and the finished professional files ask for payment only when you reach them.

Which features require a paid plan?+

Exports and print packages are the paid step. Creating, editing, and previewing your work is free. AI tools use credits separately from your plan.

Can I use BookLaunchWizard on my phone?+

You can browse, manage projects, and handle your account on mobile. The detailed studios (book layout, cover design, and audiobook production) are built for a larger screen, so we'll suggest continuing on a desktop rather than squeezing a production tool onto a phone.

Can I upload a manuscript I've already written?+

Yes. Upload a DOCX, TXT, Markdown, or RTF file and BookLaunchWizard will read the structure (chapters, headings, and front matter) so you can move straight to design.

Will my existing formatting be preserved?+

You choose. When you upload, you can keep your original formatting as closely as possible, or apply an BookLaunchWizard design for a consistent professional look.

What is the Book Inspector?+

It's a review pass over your book that flags things worth fixing before you print or publish: missing front matter, table-of-contents issues, layout problems, and similar. It explains each finding and can apply many of the fixes for you.

Can I design my own cover?+

Yes. Cover Studio handles front covers and full wraparound covers with spine calculations, and you can bring in your own images or use the media library.

Can I customise the templates?+

Yes. Templates are a starting point, not a lock: text, colours, fonts, images, and layout are all editable.

Does choosing 300 DPI make my image better?+

No, and this one matters. DPI is a target for the output, not a way to add detail that was never in the file. If your original image is small, selecting a higher DPI won't sharpen it. Use a larger source image or choose a smaller print size instead.

What happens if my image resolution is too low?+

You'll see a clear warning with the actual resolution your image supports at the size you picked. You can carry on if you're comfortable, but a larger source image or a smaller print size will give a noticeably better result.

Can I print at home or use a professional printer?+

Either. The print package contains standard PDF files at exact physical sizes, so you can print them yourself or hand them to a print shop. Print at 100% or Actual Size, never Fit to Page.

How do I export my project?+

Open the project and use the Export area. You'll see exactly what will be produced before anything is generated.

Why does exporting need a paid plan?+

Designing is free so you can be sure the result is right. The paid step covers producing the final high-resolution, print-ready files.

Where are my projects saved?+

Everything is saved to your account automatically as you work. You'll find your projects in My Projects, in the left sidebar.

Does BookLaunchWizard use AI?+

In some places, and always optionally. AI can help draft book text and generate cover concepts. You can build any project entirely by hand without touching an AI feature.

Should I review AI-generated content?+

Yes, always. Treat anything generated as a first draft: check the facts, wording, and tone before you print, publish, or sell it.

How do credits work?+

Each paid plan includes a monthly AI-credit allowance, and optional one-time refills add more. Credits are only used when you run an AI action, like drafting or a cover concept. Your subscription covers software access and plan limits; credits cover AI usage. Working manually costs no credits.

How do subscriptions work?+

A subscription unlocks software access and your plan's limits. It's managed securely through Stripe, and you can review or change it in your billing settings.

How do I cancel?+

From your billing settings. If you're on a subscription, access stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for.

Do you store my card details?+

No. Payments and card management are handled by Stripe. BookLaunchWizard never sees or stores your full card number.

Can I get a refund?+

Refund requests are reviewed through support. Send the email you used at checkout, the purchase date, and what went wrong. Credits already spent on successful AI actions may not be refundable. The Refund Policy has the details.

Is my work private?+

Your projects belong to your account and aren't made public just because you uploaded or created them. Please avoid uploading sensitive personal, medical, legal, or confidential third-party material unless you have the right to use it.

Is BookLaunchWizard SOC 2 compliant?+

Not currently certified. We do follow practical security measures: payments through Stripe, authentication through Clerk, and careful handling of your content. Enterprise security documentation can follow as the product matures.

Is BookLaunchWizard HIPAA compliant?+

No. BookLaunchWizard isn't designed for protected health information or medical records, so please don't upload HIPAA-regulated data.

Are the image searches optional?+

Yes. Image search only runs when you type a term and press Search, and those images are never used for AI generation or training.

How do I get help?+

Ask Sarah, our AI support assistant, for a quick answer, or send us a message. Sign in and check My Support Requests. Replies from the BookLaunchWizard team appear there.

What should I include when reporting a problem?+

The project name and type, what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and the browser or device you were using. A screenshot helps a lot.
